fresh48 session
you’re booked!
welcome & what to expect for your fresh48 session
Hi mama,
I’m so honored to be documenting this sacred season for your family. These first 48 hours with your baby are unlike anything else — raw, emotional, fleeting, and full of wonder. My goal is to help you remember it all just as it was: the sleepy yawns, the wrinkled toes, the first time you held them close.
This page will help you prepare for your session and know exactly what to expect, so you can relax and focus on what matters most.

what to expect
When you are in labor, fill out our labor + delivery notification form and we’ll schedule your session for sometime within the first 24–48 hours. I’ll meet you at your hospital and we’ll spend about 30–45 minutes together. No need to worry about cleaning up or looking “perfect” — my sessions are natural and documentary-style.
I’ll gently guide you into moments of connection but never over-pose. This is all about telling your baby’s very first story.
sessions typically include:
Quiet moments of you bonding with baby
Baby details (fingers, toes, hospital bracelet)
Snuggles with partner/siblings if present
Natural light photos using the space as-is
when can I expect to receive my photos?
Within 1 week, you will receive a watermarked gallery and slideshow. You will then have the option to select from one of the three collections outlined below. All collections include both digital images and print credits with access to premium-quality print products ranging from standard prints to baby announcements and fine art albums.

fresh48 FAQs
-
No worries at all — I stay flexible around your delivery window. Once baby arrives, just let me know and I’ll schedule our session within 48 hours.
-
For Fresh48 photos, comfort is key. Choose soft, neutral colors like cream, oatmeal, taupe, or muted earth tones — these photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your connection. Pieces with texture (like waffle-knit robes, linen, or cozy sweaters) can add subtle depth without being distracting. Think relaxed and easy: a robe, button-up, or loungewear you feel good in. Partners can keep it simple with a solid tee or henley and joggers. Baby doesn’t need much — a swaddle, plain onesie, or even just a diaper and hospital blanket is perfect for capturing those raw, real first moments.
-
Absolutely not! Plenty of sessions I do are baby-only sessions. This is totally up to you to decide if you'd like to be involved in the session or if you'd rather just rest and recover. Either way is totally fine!
-
Absolutely — if siblings or other family members are present, they’re welcome to join.
-
Just let me know! I’m happy to work around any current hospital policies or adjust our plans if needed.
-
Nope! My Fresh48 sessions are entirely natural and unposed. I’ll document the environment just as it is — the hospital bed, the bassinet, the snuggles. It’s all about keeping it genuine.
-
Not in the traditional sense! I’ll gently guide you but never over-pose. I want this to feel easy and honest — like you’re just soaking it all in.
hospital packing list (with photos in mind)
Here are a few photo-friendly items to consider adding to your hospital bag:
For You:
Neutral robe or button-up lounge set
Cozy textured blanket or swaddle to lay over hospital linens
Light makeup (if you want!) and a hairbrush or clip
Nursing bra or tank
Water bottle or lip balm — hospitals are dry!
For Baby:
Neutral swaddle or muslin blanket
Solid-colored onesie (white, beige, or soft earth tones)
Hat or bow (optional)
Baby name card or personalized item (if you’d like it photographed)
Tip: Stick to soft neutrals and textures — they photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your connection.

a final note
Your job is simply to rest and enjoy these first days with your new baby. I’ll take care of the rest. If you have any last-minute questions or updates, don’t hesitate to text or email me — I’m here for you every step of the way.
See you soon,
Carlie
