mini session
you’re booked!
welcome & what to expect for your mini session
Hi there!
I’m so glad you’re here — and even more excited to capture your family just as you are. These sessions are not about perfection or posing… they’re about connection, play, and preserving the everyday magic of your life together.
This page will walk you through what to expect, what to wear, how to prep your family, and answer a few frequently asked questions so you can show up feeling relaxed and ready.

what to expect
how long will our session last?
Mini sessions are short and sweet! Each session lasts about 20 minutes, with a built-in 10-minute buffer between families as needed.
While these sessions are more structured than a full family session, they’re still relaxed and fun — plenty of time to capture beautiful, natural moments without feeling rushed.
I’ll gently guide you through moments that feel natural and real — think snuggles, tickles, walking hand-in-hand, and simply being present with your people. There’s no pressure for anyone to “perform.” I follow the energy of your kids and work with whatever the moment brings. Your only job is to enjoy being with your family — I’ll take care of the rest.
what to wear for family photos
clothing can make a big difference in how your photos feel — but don’t stress. The goal is to look and feel like you. A few tips:
Choose neutral, earthy, or muted tones — think cream, rust, sage, taupe, denim
Avoid logos, neon colors, or super busy patterns
Add texture with knits, linen, layers, or flowy fabrics
Coordinate but don’t match exactly — soft variation looks beautiful in photos

how to prepare
Plan to arrive a few minutes early to let everyone settle
Try to feed kids ahead of time when possible, the less hungry, the more happy
Bring water, snacks, and a favorite toy or comfort item for the kids
Dress for the weather and embrace the season (even the wind can be magical!)
Most of all: Let go of expectations. Some of the most meaningful moments come when you least expect them.
when can I expect to receive my photos?
You will receive a full digital gallery of edited images within 1-2 weeks of your session.

family session FAQs
-
Family sessions are fun, relaxed, and movement-driven. I’ll guide you into natural moments — cuddles, tickles, running wild — to capture connection and personality.
-
Immediate family members are always welcome — parents and kids. If you’d like to include extended family, we can plan a private session with extended time to make space for everyone.
-
Don’t worry! I expect wiggly, wild, and wonderfully real kids. My sessions are kid-led and pressure-free — we’ll get beautiful moments no matter what.
-
I recommend choosing neutral, earthy, or soft tones that complement one another without being too matchy. Also, texture is everything! Think cozy knits, linen textures, or flowy dresses — pieces that move well and feel like you. Avoid logos, bright neons, or busy patterns, as they can distract from the connection we’re capturing. For Cincinnati family sessions in the spring or fall, layering is a great way to add texture and flexibility for changing temps. I’m always happy to review outfit options or help you style the session to match your vision!
-
If rain or extreme conditions are in the forecast, I’ll reach out to reschedule. Cloudy skies and wind? Still beautiful!
-
The morning of your session, I’ll text you a pin with the exact meeting spot at the park or location we’ve chosen. That way, you’ll have a direct link to where I’ll be, making it easy to find me when you arrive.

a final note
Family sessions are meant to feel like a deep breath — a pause to soak up your people and all the beauty of who they are right now. If you have any questions, ideas, or last-minute nerves, reach out anytime. I’m here to help every step of the way.
Can’t wait to see you soon,
Carlie
